Yes, the school holidays may be coming to end, but Cornwall is still packed full of visitors enjoying days on the beach, walks along the coast, and adventures through the countryside. And with many more booked in to visit the county through September and October, Cornwall is still buzzing with people looking for a decent bite to eat in the sun. Good news for those people, we’ve listed ten of our favourite beachside burgers in Cornwall!
Wavecrest Cafe, Lizard Point
Sitting on Lizard point, the UK’s most southernly point, Wavecrest Cafe offers panoramic sea views overlooking the rugged coastline of South Cornwall. Situated at the start of the coast path leading to Kynance Cove, Wavecrest offers the perfect place to sit and take in this atmospheric and historic location. Served in toasted rolls with house-salad, fries and homemade coleslaw, the Wavecrest Burgers are popular amongst locals, hikers, and other passers-by. The Watering Hole, Perranporth
Known around the county for their incredible live music events that’s attracted the likes of Billy Ocean and Seasick Steve, The Watering Hole is the perfect beach bar, offering a range of drinks and excellent local food. Sit on the outdoor benches with your feet in the sand whilst you enjoy their wide range of locally sources food that’s served from 9am until late…
All served with salad, tomatoes and chips, the burger corner of the menu looks too hard to resist. Choose from a 1/4 lb Steak Burger, a 1/3 Ib Cheeseburger and a veggie burger. And if they’re not enough for you, you can add on bacon, Cornish blue cheese or mature cheddar – What’s not to love?! The Mussel Shoals, Porthleven
Fresh seafood, fantastic drinks, harbour side views, and funky music, The Mussel Shoals on Porthleven harbour side has everything you need for a lively evening on the Cornish coast. Operating from a small kiosk in Porthleven, choose to eat at their tables along the harbour, or take away your food and drink to eat on the pontoons, local beaches, or your holiday home!
Serving French bistro-style food, the menu changes daily, depending on what’s been caught from the harbour that day by local fishermen! But whatever it is, be it a battered cod, fresh hake, or any other gem from the sea, you’re sure to enjoy it in one of their delicious bread rolls. Blas Burgerworks, St Ives
Based right on the waterside in the stunning town of St Ives, the burgers at Blas are all made using Cornish meat, naturally reared, free range and cooked on a chargrill. All the produce they use is fresh, seasonal and, as far as possible, locally sourced. And for the environmentally conscious… the team recycle and compost all that they can, with their furniture all made from reclaimed materials.
But on to the burgers, which the team promise are ‘Burgers For People Who Give a Damn’! Choose from beef patties which are made from 100% Cornish cattle, opt for veggie and vegan options, or choose a chicken burger which are all wild, free and tasty! Choose from several extras which include hand cut chips, homemade slaw, salads, and sauces.
Hub Box, Pentewan
Known around the country for the gorgeous, bespoke burgers, the Hub Box in Pentewan is an essential stop-off for amazing American inspired street food & drinks. They have an extensive menu of award-winning gluten free burgers that are also vegan friendly, and their food and the provenance of their suppliers is something they’re proud of.
With over 20, yes 20 burgers to choose from, there is certainly something for everyone at Hub Box. Choose from classic beef burgers, chicken burgers, veggie burgers, vegan beef burgers and vegan chicken. With several options under each category, all served with a wide option of sides, from halloumi fries, to onion rings, nachos, homemade slaw and dips.
Blue Tomato Café, Rock
Based in one of the most beautiful corners of Cornwall, overlooking the water in Rock, Blue Tomato take their food and service seriously. Using fresh and local produce, their menu is ‘vibrant, beautiful and tasty!’ So let’s not waste any time, and jump straight to the burger and sandwiches section of the menu…
All cooked using local produce, choose from the Minced Steak Burger, topped with red pepper and tomato relish, serviced with dill sauce and salad. Or choose the Chicken Schnitzel Burger, made up of butterflied chicken breast coated in breadcrumbs with red pepper and relish, mayo and salad. Or thirdly, opt for the vegetarian Halloumi Burger, topped with tzatziki, chilli jam and salad.
Beer & bird, St Ives
Beer and Bird is a family run business in the heart of beautiful St Ives. As you may have guessed, they are famous for 2 things: Craft Beer (always fresh and often local) and monster burgers, and fried chicken. They’re also big on hospitality. So whether you’re popping in for a beer and need a recommendation, or settling in for a night of good old fashioned comfort food, their staff are always on hand to make your experience the best it can be!
Their famous burgers are build with buttermilk fried chicken breast, shredded lettuce, white onion and their signature buttermilk ranch sauce. All served in a brioche bun with skin on fried and pickled watermelon, you’re sure to find the perfect burger from their extensive menu!
Burgers & Fish, Padstow
Based in the stunning, seaside town of Padstow, Burgers & Fish is an award winning family restaurant in Padstow, Cornwall. Serving the best gourmet burgers cooked over wood fire grill, great fish and seafood.
Their gourmet burgers use the best beef from local Cornish farms, they’re simply seasoned and cooked on their open flame grill, before being served in a brioche bunt with salad and fries. The Meat Counter, Falmouth

If you’re hungry, then the team at the beach cafe offer food from breakfast through to dinner. And of course, we’d recommend their cheese burger, served with fries or salad, it’s simple but delicious (and much more enjoyable under the Cornish sun!)
