Cornwall is truly stunning through the autumn; with crashing waves that tower over seaside villages, dramatic coastal walks, picturesque towns covered with fallen leaves, and so much more. It’s too easy to only associate the county with summer holidays, in fact, it has plenty to offer through the autumn months. And if you’re a couple heading down soon, then you’re in luck, we’ve listed our favourite days out for couples in Cornwall this autumn.
The Lost Gardens of Heligan, St Austell
What more could a couple want on a sunny autumn’s day, than a mysterious world of lost gardens full of tropical plants, wildlife, and winding paths to explore together hand in hand? Discover over 200 acres of incredible scenery and garden history at this forgotten paradise which was discovered just 30 years ago, before being revived through Europe’s largest garden restoration project. Walk under majestic trees, through bamboo tunnels, winding paths and rope bridges, and don’t forget to stop for a bite at the Heligan Kitchen to taste the fruits from the plants around you. With an all-year round calendar of events and so much to see, this is definitely worth a visit if you’re in Cornwall this autumn!
The Cornish Seal Sanctuary, Gweek
If you and your partner are in Cornwall this autumn, then you need to connect with the ocean and wildlife around you! The perfect way to do this and learn more about Cornwall’s natural environment is to pop into the Cornish Seal Sanctuary in Gweek! Stroll around the sanctuary to meet all their resident seals, sea lions, penguins, beavers, and seal pups, learn all about the team’s work to ensure the animals’ rehabilitation and release, as well as the team’s mission to highlight how plastic pollution has affected Cornwall. You can also explore the woodlands and nature trails that are thriving with Cornish wildlife, and even pop in to the Sanctuary’s café, and shop after your visit.

Newquay Zoo, Newquay
Another suggestion for the animal-loving couples out there! Newquay Zoo gives you the chance to discover over a thousand of the world’s rarest and most endangered animals, as well as a year-round calendar of events, talks and workshops to drop into and learn more. With over 13 acres to explore, forget the world outside the gates, and spend the day strolling around, taking in all the sights and smells of the wild. And as the zoo is a registered charity, your visit will help the team continue their important work for conservation, research, and education. Visit rain or shine this autumn, because Newquay Zoo is a fun filled adventure for you both, and a great excuse to release your inner animal!

The Eden Project, Bodelva
It’s highly likely that you’ve heard of the enormous biodomes at The Eden Project, but have you actually been? Have you stood at the bases of the biodomes and looked up in awe of their sheer size? No? Well if you’re down in Cornwall this autumn, you must visit! Avoid the crowds and congestion that come with the summer, and instead unwind in a world of wildlife. Experience the sights, smells and scale of the rainforests in the Rainforest Biome – the world’s largest greenhouse, and discover the tropical plants that are used to produce everyday products. Travel to South Africa and California, amble amongst the lemon trees and olive groves of the Mediterranean Biome, and in the 30-acre Outdoor Garden, discover hemp, sunflowers and other plants that could change our future! With plenty of activities, education centres and cafes on the way, there’s so much to keep you both busy!
Fowey Christmas Market Weekend
It’s not uncommon to stumble across a market in Cornwall; the county has so much local seafood, produce, arts and crafts on offer, all of which are excellent ways to remember your time in the South West. However, Cornish Christmas markets really do stand out, as they look so pretty against the backdrop of local harbours and rolling waves. So is the case for Fowey Christmas Market – one of Cornwall’s most magical festive events, full of Christmas stalls and chalets, seasonal music, locally produced food and drink, and festive gifts! A perfect and romantic way to spend your evening in Cornwall, we couldn’t recommend it enough!
