Bodmin Railway are delighted to be hosting an alternative evening of food and entertainment celebrating Cornish summertime with heritage steam travel and home grown produce and talent! Philleigh Way Cookery School, Truro, 29th August 10am – 2pm
During their half-day pasta course, students will be guided through the process of producing their own fresh pasta which they will then turn into a range of delicious dishes. It’s an action packed session with three demonstrations and three practical sessions. All equipment is provided for you and you will learn how to use a pasta machine, salsa making, shellfish prep and more. Sample dishes include basil pesto linguine and salmon and scallop filled tortellini with brown caper butter.

Summer fun for children and families, Truro Cathedral, 1st August 11am – 2pm
If you’re a family looking for something to do during the summer holidays – don’t forget to pop into the cathedral! Every Tuesday and Wednesday of the summer holidays, starting on 31st July, there’s different messy table activities for all to enjoy. You’ll be able to take part in themed weeks, such as ‘animals’ where the activity is making Owl coin purses. Messy table activities are free, but donations are gratefully received.

Summer Island Disco, St Ives, 4th August
Every year, on the first Saturday of August; The island is alive with the sound of music, the smell of the best local food, a variety of thirst quenching bars and the happy buzz of the whole community- young and old- appreciating this incredible summer setting surrounded by the Sea. The Summer Island Disco’s main mission is to get together a selection of the finest food and drink vendors, musicians, businesses with Pop-Up stalls and quirky activities- all local- taking place in an otherwise relatively unappreciated part of the town during the summer months.

Dire Straits:UK is a tribute band who are touring the country and coming to Cornwall in August 2018. Noted for the fine quality of their renditions, close your eyes and it should be very hard to tell the difference. Visually they are extremely impressive. A chance not to be missed.

Sundowner Sessions – Rae, Lusty Glaze, Newquay, August 15th 8pm
Based in Cornwall, England, Rue is a singer-songwriter who draws upon influences from soul, jazz, rnb and pop — resulting in a sound that sits alone in it’s own right. Highly anticipated, her debut EP, Blinkers, dropped in May 2017. Her second release and first acoustic single, Mr Claude, followed in September. Rue has gained support from BBC Introducing in Cornwall & Devon, making multiple appearances on live shows. She has also featured on prime time BBC Spotlight TV. 2017 saw Rue perform at major festivals including Tunes in the Dunes, Boardmasters, Leopallooza, Great Estate, Little Orchard and The Royal Cornwall Show.

The First Ever Falmouth Gin Festival, The Greenbank, Falmouth, August 11th
The first ever Falmouth Gin Festival is being held at The Greenbank on Saturday 11th August. The event will be held in The Riverbank Suite overlooking Falmouth harbour from 11am until 10pm. Your ticket will include a G&T on arrival, samples from all their distilleries, and of course a keepsake branded gin glass to hold all your favourite future tipples! Choose between their 11am – 4pm session, or 5pm – 10pm session.

Cornwall Pride Parade, Newquay, August 25th
The parade is a colourful and vibrant event, planned to flow through the streets of Newquay, standing tall and standing proud. There will be floats, walking bands, dance groups, organisations and charities. Everyone will form up at Beach Road Car Park at midday (12PM). If you are in the parade, it is advisable to arrive from 11am to make sure everything is in place ready for the parade to start at midday.

Fowey Royal Regatta, Fowey, August 19th – 25th
The Fowey Regatta is a must visit for anyone in Cornwall during August – visitors come from around the world to enjoy all there is to see and do. There’s always a packed calendar of events – in 2019 from 19-25 August. Cornwall’s favourite homegrown comedian Kernow King – AKA Edward Rowe – will make a return to Fowey after two sell-out shows here in 2014. Gracing the stage on Thursday 23rd, it’s sure to be a packed out event. There will also be a performance by The Red Devils, an incredible parachute display team.
