It all started with Snapchat, then Instagram jumped on board, and now WhatsApp is getting involved. Earlier this month, WhatsApp introduced new ways to customise and enhance the photos and videos you share.
So now you’ll be able to draw on a photo three times on three different platforms, what a time to be alive. On WhatsApp you’ll have the ability to draw on pictures, add emojis and text, and even change the colour and font style. However, the emojis are taken from the open source Twemoji, which may look familiar as it is the same used by Snapchat and Twitter. The app now also supports front-facing flash, perfect for getting the right light for that important selfie. They’ve also thought about zooming, and added a handy zoom feature for videos that functions with a simple slide of the finger.
WhatsApp is owned by Facebook, as is Instagram, but Snapchat isn’t. So we’re sure there will be plenty of finger pointing as it appears that Facebook have once again ‘stolen’ a feature from Snapchat (we all remember the Instagram ‘stories’ drama).
If you haven’t got the new features just yet, don’t worry. WhatsApp has said it’ll be rolling the new camera features out over Android and iPhone gradually.
