Twitter users everywhere and anywhere can now obtain feedback in response to their questions thanks to a new ‘Poll’ feature.
Following a trial period, over the last few days Twitter has been rolling out the ability to create polls on all mobile devices and desktop computers.
We’ve taken a look at what it is and how it could benefit your business.
How does the ‘Poll’ feature work?
You can create a Poll by clicking the piechart icon in the box when you compose a tweet.
After clicking this box you can then create a two-option poll and instantly tweet it to your followers.
You’ll then be able to see how many people have voted in the poll’s 24-hour lifespan. NB: You can’t see who they are.
What should I ask?
Since its launch, people have been asking all sorts of questions, from how to eat a cream tea (jam or cream first) to helping others decide where to spend their afternoon in Paris.
If you’re using Twitter for your business you should consider asking a question that is related to your product or service.
How will it help you?
Although some have described it as a ‘gimmick’, the new poll option could benefit your business if you choose to use it.
Launching a new product or service? Test the water by asking your customers for their opinion using a Twitter poll. Measure the interest of an idea by putting out simple questions and, if desired, you can further your research by asking specific questions.
One of the key objectives of using Twitter as a business should be to engage with customers or clients. The new poll option allows you to add a different dynamic to your tweets and increase the amount of dialogue you can gain with them.
Make your voice heard
If you have an opinion on a change or development within your industry, using a poll could be a great way to get your voice heard and get others on side.
So what are you waiting for!
