Millions of people use Amazon’s app every day they’re about to be treated to a brand new feature.
The iPhone app (no word on Android availability yet) uses the phone’s camera to help detect what is in the package without the need to rip it open.
Known as “Package X-Ray”, the feature allows you to easily scan the barcode on the package. When it has scanned, the app shows you which of your orders are inside. Whether this will actually be that useful, we’re not sure, but it does seem pretty cool, particularly for businesses receiving a lot of Goods from Amazon.
The feature is available right now on the latest version of Amazon’s iOS app; you just need to tap the camera icon next to the search bar and select “Package X-Ray”. For those worried about other people taking a sneaky peek, don’t worry, the futuristic tech is designed to only work for the user who ordered the packages.
It is thought that this new feature will be useful for the Christmas period, as we all attempt to hide presents from our family and friends. Even though we do love a new app feature, we can’t help but wonder “why wouldn’t you just open the package?”
