Cornwall is the UK’s most popular tourist destination, which is no surprise when you consider all the stunning coastlines, golden beaches, tourist and family attractions, and nature and wildlife on offer. Whilst all these spots do make for fantastic holidays and family days out, there’s also a wide range of unique activities to treat Mum to this year… The good news is that after chatting with our community on Twitter and checking out some venues ourselves, we’ve listed ten of our favourite places in Cornwall to treat Mum this Mother’s Day!
The Lost Gardens of Heligan, St Austell
Re-discovered only thirty years ago, the beautiful Lost Gardens of Heligan near St Austell offer a truly unique day out for any mum who loves to be around nature and local wildlife. One of the best ways to impress Mum on Mother’s Day is with some delicious food and drink… and if you agree then we must point you in the direction of the Cornish Hamper Store in Redruth. With plenty of specialised hampers to choose from, you’ll certainly find the treat to suit your mum’s taste, and with a personalised message added free of charge, it’s got all the touches to make it a special gift. Some hampers that caught our eye were the Cornish Cream Tea Hamper, the Luxury Wax Melts and Burner Gift Set, or the Indulgence hamper with Prosecco and Truffles… We told you there was something for every mum!
The Eden Project, Bodelva
A day out at the world-famous Eden Project in Bodelva makes for the perfect Mother’s Day gift for anyone with a mum who loves her gardening, or the outdoors. And the good news is that on Sunday 27th, entry will be totally free for all mothers, and grandmothers! So why not surprise them with a day’s adventure through the steaming forests of South America, the Mediterranean, South Africa, and California. Or if that’s not enough, drop into the many activities, education centres and cafes on the way? We’d also recommending checking ahead for any live events that may be happening, including live music, craft workshops, and much more.

Healeys Cornish Cyder Farm, Truro
If your mum enjoys a crisp glass of cider, then a visit to Healey’s Cornish Cyder Farm near Truro could make for a unique, and delicious day out! Family owned and Cornish born and bred, Healeys is the largest independent cider maker in the county, which means that there is so much to see with their Access All Areas pass! Including guided tours and experiences, sampling sessions, Cornish cream teas, farm animals to meet and a calendar of events, the day will soon fly by, so if your mum enjoys a cider… this looks to be a fantastic day out on Mother’s Day!
The Cornish Seal Sanctuary, Gweek
This is for the wildlife-loving mothers out there… Grab Mum on Sunday 27th and head to the Cornish Seal Sanctuary in Gweek to meet the rescued seal pups from around Cornwall. Experience incredible marine animals up close and learn all about their individual stories, and their rehabilitation process before being released back into the wild. With several species of seal to see, as well as penguins, sea lions, beavers, paddock animals and more, any animal-loving mum will appreciate this thoughtful day out!
