A large number of Cornwall’s best meat producers have been in the business for a long time, with years of expertise and experience to draw from to ensure their meat products are the best around. Some farmers and producers are even embracing the digital age, selling their goods online and delivering meat boxes to their customers regularly.

Williams & Son Butchers, Wadebridge
Williams has become something of an institution in Wadebridge, supplying many local restaurants and village stores with their meat, including the beef found in Chough Bakery Padstow’s famous award-winning pasties. It’s popular with residents too thanks to their award-winning sausages, hog’s pudding and home cured bacon, all made in house.
Watts Family Butchers, Rock
Speaking of institutions, Watts Family Butchers has been going since 1923. Beef, lamb, pork and chicken are all sourced locally in Cornwall wherever possible, and the infamous Mariners restaurant gets their meat from here. The sausages and burgers are all handmade on site, ensuring freshness when you buy them.
Lobbs Farm Shop, Heligan
This delightful farm shop sells only the freshest produce, with a wide range of products, many homemade and fresh as can be. The meat counter is excellent and has everything you could hope for — their barbecue selection is particularly enticing, with delicious beef burgers and marinated chicken perfect for the barbie!
Hampsons Butchers, Hayle
This long established traditional butcher still promotes the craft heavily but has built a reputation for another Cornish delicacy — its incredibly popular Cornish pasties! You’ll find a full range of meat among the pasties, so never fear, you’ll find just what you need for a barbecue!
Etherington’s Farm Shop, Redruth
This butcher, which has been supply Cornwall, Devon and the Isles of Scilly with high quality meat since 1954. Today they continue to supply high quality meat from locally reared and rare breed animals. The award winning farm shop is well worth a visit, home to a range of everyday cupboard ingredients, specialist products and award-winning meats.
Kittow’s Quality Meats, St Austell
Originating in the early 1890s in St Blazey by Thomas and Mary Kittow, the family butchery business blossomed and while undergoing numerous changes, continues to trade as Kittow’s Quality Meats. Andrew Kittow joined the business upon leaving school at 16 and continues to lead the business for this incredibly popular butcher.
Chapmans Family Butchers, Perranporth
This is a butcher that not only specialises in quality, but quantity too! Their family packs and barbecue packs have become legendary, rammed full of goodies including steaks, whole chickens, sausages and kebabs, something to really keep everyone happy when you’re out grilling in the garden!
AR Day MBE Butchers, Portscatho
Run by Andy Day, this popular butcher makes all its own sausages, burgers, black pudding, hog’s pudding, pies, quiches and sausages rolls. Their pasties come from St Mawes Bakery and they also stock the bakery’s bread, making it a good choice for when you need to pick up some of the essentials.
Boscastle Farm Shop, Boscastle
You won’t find a better view at many farm shops or butchers than this one, which has a stunning view out over the sea. As well as selling excellent meat, this farm shop has a wonderful café and garden for watching the world go by, making it nice as a pitstop for lunch as well as for a bit of food shopping.
Duchy Charcuterie, Redruth
We’re suggesting something slightly different for our final entry — an artisan company that produces the finest charcuterie around. Their ethos is to produce the finest cured meats and salamis using ethically reared Cornish livestock, to great success, having won lots of awards for their produce.
