Our regular readers will know all too well how much we enjoy discovering local pubs and restaurants across Cornwall, before giving them a go and sharing them with you here! And that was certainly the case this year as we hunted down five of the best festive menus in Cornwall. Featuring traditional pubs in leafy villages, restaurants with incredible sea views and plenty more, here are some of our favourite festive delights…
Trethorne Hotel & Golf Club, Launceston
Set on the Devon and Cornwall boarder and surrounded by rolling countryside, local wildlife and stunning views; Trethorne Hotel and Golf Club offer everything you need for the perfect festive meal this December! Their popular Christmas Menu is available until Thursday 23rd December; giving you a week to get over to Launceston and enjoy! For starters, options include leek and potato soup, pork and brandy pate, and baked portobello mushroom. For the main course, choices include roast turkey breast, topside of beef, hake fillets and plenty more! And dessert options feature Christmas pudding, chocolate yule log, spiced apple crumble, and fruit salad.

The Greenbank Hotel, Falmouth
Steeped in history and nestled on Falmouth’s historic harbour, the Greenbank Hotel offers guests sweeping views of the ocean and all the Cornish atmosphere one could ask for! And it’s not just the stunning setting that attracts diners through December, so too does the Greenbank Christmas Afternoon Tea! Specifically designed to warm hands and turn heads, the afternoon tea (which includes mulled wine) features savoury options such as butter roast turkey finger sandwiches, parmesan mustard chipolata sausages, smoked salmon, and confit chicken – what a choice! Sweet options include panettone trifle, yule log, mince pies and plenty more!

The Plume of Feathers, Newquay
The 16th century coaching inn based in the leafy village of Mitchell near Newquay offers guests a wonderfully Cornish experience and more importantly; a fantastic festive menu to enjoy this December! Embracing Cornish ingredients, the Christmas menu at the Plume of Feathers is filled with delicious festive treats including roasted winter squash soup, or poached salmon for starters. For the main course, options include roasted free-range turkey, glazed gammon, beef bourguignon and plenty more! And we must recommend the Christmas in a jar dessert which involves a Christmas pudding with brandy cream, Christmas pudding ice cream, rum-soaked raisins, and clementine zest! How about that to get you in to the Christmas mood?

The Springer Spaniel, Launceston
‘Proper food, cooked proper!’ is the philosophy that the team at The Springer Spaniel take pride in, and that is certainly the case for the 18th century pub’s festive menu! With 2 courses costing £21 and 3 courses just £27, guests have plenty of local, festive treats to choose from. Starters include haggis scotch egg, goats cheese parfait, and pork shoulder and black pudding terrine. Main courses feature local turkey suet pudding, mushroom risotto, and pan fired bream. And for dessert, diners can enjoy a pub special sticky toffee pudding, winter crumble, or latte panna cotta!

The Mariners Pub, Rock
Featured in this year’s Michelin Guide, Paul Ainsworth’s gastro-pub in Rock overlooks the stunning Camel Estuary, meaning diners at The Mariners Pub can enjoy the stunning surroundings, as well as delicious food. Now, we’ve been a bit naughty featuring this pub in our guide to festive menus as it doesn’t offer a standalone Christmas menu… but the Sunday Roasts are just so good that we must recommend that you drop in during the build up to Christmas! For starters, options include fried buttermilk chicken with garam masala and chipotle mayonnaise, or half a pint of crispy baby squid with lemon and lime! Main courses have a festive feel to them with roast Cornish beef, a steak and ale pie, and a vegetarian roast all standing out.
