Pinch punch, first day of the month! We’re with you, we can’t believe that March is here already, it feels like just a couple of weeks ago we were celebrating Christmas! But if there’s one way to slow down and enjoy today, it’s by tucking in to a sweet, sweet pancake.
The good news is that across Cornwall are plenty of restaurants, cafes, and takeaways offering fluffy pancakes and other sweet treats to celebrate Pancake Day. And after hearing the recommendations from our community online, here are our favourite spots to buy Pancakes on Shrove Tuesday in Cornwall.
Café Mylor – Falmouth
Based in a stunning waterside location on Falmouth Harbour, the popular Café Mylor never fails to hold back on Pancake Day, with locals flocking from surrounding towns to enjoy the variety of fluffy pancake toppings – both sweet and savoury.
With doors open from 9am, savoury pancake options include Maple and Crispy Bacon, whilst those with a sweeter tooth can choose from Banoffee, Nutella, Sugar and Lemon, and plenty more! And as long as the rain holds out, you can wrap up and grab a spot outside to watch the boats and birds come and go whilst you tuck into your mountain of fluffy sweetness.

Bread and Butter – Truro
Not only does this picturesque café in Truro offer a splendid courtyard and garden to relax and socialise in, but the kitchen at Bread and Butter specialises in fluffy American pancakes – both sweet and savoury, meaning that Shrove Tuesday isn’t your only chance to pop in and enjoy a crêpe.
Their pancakes are locally famous, and toppings include Butter and Maple Syrup, Fresh Berries, Cornish Caramel and Banana, Greek Yoghurt with Granola, and Blood Orange Drizzle with Blueberries… don’t they all sound delicious!? If you’d like mix it up, then diners can add smoked bacon, or locally sourced vanilla ice cream. Prices range from £7 for a stack of two, up to £14 for a stack of six, and based on their portion sizes, knocking back six pancakes would be a huge achievement!

Based on the corner of one of Truro’s most charming and historic streets, Loading Bay 7 occupies a charming Grade II listed building steeped in a colourful history. Today, the café deli offers a wide range of artisan food and drinks, but most importantly… a special pancake menu to help diners celebrate Shrove Tuesday!
With pancake toppings including classics such as sugar and lemon, maple syrup and berries, butter, runny chocolate sauce, and plenty more, diners at Loading bay 7 are truly spoilt for choice.
