Milk, white or dark? We’re talking chocolate, the Cornish kind. Whether it’s for your Valentine, a gift for friend or family member, or perhaps a self-indulgent luxury, this sweet treat is well-loved around the world.
Alongside pasties and cider, Cornwall is home to some wonderful chocolate connoisseurs each producing different types to suit all tastes – Willy Wonka would be proud!
With so many to choose from, we called upon our social media followers to suggest their favourites…
Kernow Chocolate, St Eval
Fancy a new flavour? Chilli and lime, apple crumble and Eton mess are just three of the 21 delicious flavoured chocolates crafted at Kernow Chocolate’s factory in St Eval (which is also open to the public). All chocolates are made using ethical and sustainably grown cocoa before being perfectly packaged in their signature boxes.
Chocolarder, near Falmouth
Chocolarder is one of the few bean-to-bar chocolate makers in the country. They source the best organic beans before working their magic and leaving the chocolate to mature for 30 days. The chocolate is then carefully packaged to keep it in pristine condition. Imagine a larder full of this exquisite chocolate – that’s a fine thought!
Sweet P, Bude
From bars to chocolate boxes, this family-run Bude-based business has been creating Sweet P goodies for 10 years. Not only are many products locally sourced, they’ve teamed up with Bude Brewery to create a special Black Rock range. You can also learn the art of chocolate making at one of their interactive workshops.
