Devon has some inspiring scenery, so it isn’t surprising that so many artists find themselves in the county.
From sculptors to painters, the county is packed with some of the best artistic talent around. Each has their own unique style, and you’re bound to be inspired by what you see. In order to find some of the top artists around, we called upon our social media followers for suggestions. Here’s who they recommended:
Colin Bentley
Originally from the West Midlands, Colin now lives in Devon and spends his days painting beautiful scenery. He’s previously shown work at Kennaway House and The Gallery. Colin is now an artist in residence for the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site.

Bob Crooks
Known as one of the country’s leading glassmakers, Bob Crooks has been creating stunning glass items for over 25 years. He has exhibited in Italy, China, and USA to name but a few. As well as one-off pieces, Bob also creates limited production collections.

Based in the beautiful seaside town of Salcombe is Stephen Thomas, and we can certainly see where he gets his inspiration from! Since receiving his first set of colouring pencils, Stephen has been creating art in watercolour, acrylic, and oil.

Sarah Cox
A love of colour and a degree in Graphic Design come together in Sarah’s bright work. Papier mache creations are produced using recycled materials, whilst eye-catching tiles are created with fimo polymer clay, and textured canvases are painted.

Yvonne Coomber
If you like bursts of colour then Yvonne is the artist for you! The vibrancy of nature is captured in her canvases, which have paint thrown, dribbled, poured, and rubbed on to create unique and textured pieces.

Devon is surrounded by moors and seascapes, which is exactly what gives Mike his inspiration. He loves to capture the scenery of Devon, and also runs courses across the Exeter area throughout the week.

Conor’s eclectic variety of work is what makes him so special. Working in different styles and mediums makes every piece unique, and he makes his own wooden panels and canvases. He has exhibited all around the world, and is based in North Devon.
