As they say, you should eat like a king for breakfast, lunch like a prince and supper like a pauper, so we wanted to find out where best to get our most important meal of the day throughout Cornwall. Compton Park, Callington
The Engine House Cafe offers full English breakfasts, which are absolutely delicious! they’re able to offer gluten free options should you need and also vegetarian. The Stonkin Tonkin is our favourite; 2 Bacon, 2 Butchers Sausages, 2 Eggs, 2 Hash Browns, Beef Steak, Black Pudding, Fried Bread, Mushrooms, Beans & Tomato. You can enjoy a relaxing meal in convivial surroundings with stunning views. Local artists’ work is displayed in the cafe and is for sale at very reasonable prices.

Louis Team Rooms, Kit Hill Callington
Louis Tea Rooms is a family run business with a friendly and warm welcome. They pride themselves on having a relaxed yet professional atmosphere. They are lucky to be located in such a beautiful area and, wherever possible, always try to use local ingredients and support local businesses. The menu is extensive and has something for everyone. Their popular breakfast menu is served all day. The smallest breakfast starts at £4.60 and includes bacon, egg, sausage, beans and tomatoes. All of their breakfasts include toast and a tea, coffee or fruit juice. They have an ‘Olympic’ breakfast which has pretty much everything you could want in a fried breakfast and is a challenge to eat in itself!

Just Be, Saltash
A warm welcome awaits you at Just Be Saltash waterfront’s Coffee Wine Lounge. Arguably their menu starts with brunch rather than breakfast but it depends on what time you have your first meal of the day! Their menu is fully of tasty delights including a vegetarian breakfast complete with halloumi sticks and homemade beans, plus poached eggs and pancetta on homemade toast and we love the sound of wild mushrooms, spinach and pine nuts, again on their lovely homemade toast.

Olive and Co, Liskeard
Olive and Co is a true gem in the village of Liskeard. Run by Roxy and Lee (plus baby Olive!) they are an independent café with a focus on quality, serving delicious home-made food and gourmet tea and coffee. As a place for breakfast it is top notch with particular highlights being their smoked salmon and free-range scrambled eggs on sourdough toast and homemade pecan and banana pancakes.

Sunset Surf Café, Gwithian
Sunset Surf Café is a family owned and run business, serving home-cooked, locally sourced food, Cornish coffees and drinks that go down perfectly out on the decking in the sunshine. They pride themselves on the quality of their food, and on their efficient team and service – and, of course, our absolutely stunning view! Their breakfast menu has something for everyone, from bacon baps to Belgian waffles. What’s better is when the sun is shining there’s no better place than their terrace, where you can hear the gentle noise of the sea.

No. 8 Café & Deli is located on Westgate Street in the heart of Launceston town centre. They are proud to be an independent café serving great coffee, traditional Cornish breakfasts, tasty lunches and a selection of sweet treats. Their Big Cornish Breakfast includes 2 bacon, 2 Mr Warren’s Old Cornish sausages, hash browns, fried or scrambled egg, tomatoes, mushrooms, baked beans and toast – yum! You can also add hogs pudding! The team at Cherry Trees would love to have you for breakfast and you may also bring your four legged friends along too! Their breakfast menu is extensive, with gluten free options available. Although not a classic option, we do like the sound of the “Dad’s mince on toast” which is chilli con carne piled on thick crusty bread, topped with a poached egg and parmesan. If you are more of a traditionalist, why not go for their full Cornish breakfast or blueberry pancakes.

Fuel, Falmouth
Fuel is eclectic, relaxing and informal, a home from home. Located on Arwenack Street in the heart of Falmouth, Cornwall’s most cosmopolitan town, Fuel is open everyday from 9am to 10pm. Waves Bar are right on the seafront at Seaton Pavilions. Only a narrow road separates us you from the beach, and it’s pretty spectacular when the Surf’s up! Their bar is open 9am to 11pm Sunday through Thursday, and midnight on Friday and Saturday. For breakfast you can expect A delicious Full English Breakfast, a Small English Breakfast, Vegetarian Breakfast or a selection of breakfast brioche sandwiches.All served with tea or coffee.
