Oktoberfest, Truro Lemon Quay, 6-7th October
Oktoberfest Cornwall is coming and it’s going to be one epic weekend! Friday 6th and Saturday 7th Oktober will bring the celebration of Bavarian culture to the Lemon Quay Piazza with beers, food, music and everything else that will have you dancing in your lederhosen on top of a wooden table! Those wanting to attend are encouraged to book a table for that real Oktoberfest experience! Falmouth Oyster Festival, Falmouth, 12-15th October
Falmouth’s Events Square will again play host to one of Cornwall’s biggest and best loved specialist food festivals, Falmouth Oyster Festival, from Thursday October 12 – Sunday October 15. The annual festivities celebrate the start of the oyster dredging season, the native Fal Oyster and the diversity of Cornish seafood, with four days of feasting, cooking demos, live music, food and craft stalls. Daily cookery demonstrations are held during the festival by top chefs and food experts from Cornwall’s hotels and restaurants, inspiring visitors to try their hand at unusual and exciting seafood combinations and indulge in the tastes of native oysters, wines, ales and local produce!

1,000 mouths, Nancarrow Farm, Zelah, 5th – 8th October
This autumn, Nancarrow Farm we are welcoming some of the UK’s most inspirational chefs, producers and foragers for ‘1000 Mouths’ – a festival of feasts at Nancarrow. Their barns will provide the backdrop to 12 farm feasts over 4 nights from the 5th – 8th October, each using beef from their finest organic Red Devon bullock. As well as gathering 1000 guests for one of the most exciting food events in Cornwall, 1000 Mouths aims to raise funds for Action Against Hunger, an amazing charity which supports communities throughout the world. Roald Dahl’s Halloweden, The Eden Project, Par, 21-29th October
It’s Halloweden… but not as you know it. This half-term, come and pit yourself against Roald Dahl’s infamous villains, as you encounter themes from five of the best-selling books. It’s a spooktacular special that will delight children and grown-ups alike. There will be plenty of activities to get involved with, including a witch spotters training session, and chance to tunnel into the farm to sneak out plump chickens and juicy apples, but beware…Boggis, Bunce and Bean are never far from the scene. You can enter Mr and Mrs Twit’s house where terrible tricks and pranks await or take part in an ice skating session!

Falmouth Beer Festival, Falmouth, 19-21st October
This year’s festival promises more than 200 mouth-watering real ales, ciders and perries for you to delight in! Plus ‘pub grub’ and live entertainment throughout the festival… oh, and free drinks for designated drivers! The entry fee is £10.00 (on the door) which includes entry to the fest, your souvenir glass and programme plus tokens for two pints. On The Rocks, Minack Theatre, Porthcurno, Oct 6-7th
Compass Presents and Watershed will present ‘On the Rocks’, an expanded cinema screening at the world famous Minack Theatre in Cornwall, renowned for its iconic location perched on the cliffs above the Atlantic ocean. The dramatic location forms the backdrop for a special outdoor screening of Alfred Hitchcock’s ‘Jamaica Inn’. This little-known classic film adaptation of Daphne du Maurier’s 1936 novel has recently benefitted from a 4k restoration enabling contemporary audiences the opportunity to experience this film in its full glory for the first time. The evening will consist of a film screening and an archive trail, where the cliff faces and rocks of the open air amphitheatre will be animated with film and projection.
