We recently represented a young boy who was injured in an accident at a firework display.
The boy’s mother contacted us to ask if we would be willing to deal with the compensation claim on a no win, no fee basis. We said that we would and took the case on.
The accident occurred as the boy and his family were standing in the front row of a roped off area. A stray firework hit the boy on the left side of his body from low down. He was wearing a fleece at the time and this caught alight when the firework hit him. The boy’s father tried to pat out the areas which were in flames
but could not prevent his son suffering superficial burns to his torso.
In addition to his physical injuries the boy was traumatised by the experience and suffered psychological upset.
The organisers of the firework display accepted legal responsibility for the incident and following negotiations we agreed a sum of compensation totaling £20,000.
The boy and his parents were very happy with the outcome.
