There’s nothing like the taste of Devon cider, particularly when it is Sam’s Cider. The proper Devon cider has been made on site for 100 years, so Winkleigh Cider definitely knows what it’s doing when it comes to the tasty tipple.
Way back in 1916 Sam Inch began to produce cider at Western Barn in Winkleigh, and in 1952 it was poured into bottles and distributed across the British Isles, Middle East, Europe, and the United States. It certainly has gotten around over the years. Now, 100 years since the first batch of cider was made, Winkleigh Cider is owned by Sam Inch’s great nephew Christopher, alongside his wife and mother-in-law.
Online, you can find a wonderful selection of their tasty ciders to choose from, and have them delivered straight to your door. Individual bottles and gift boxes are available to buy, a great as a gift for someone special…or just for yourself!
You can also take a trip to the original site, which is still the main site, and explore the shop that is fully stocked with their traditional cider, as well as gifts. You can also have a little taste of some proper Devon cider, a total treat for your taste buds.
If you can’t get to the store, or order online, have a peek in some shops (such as Waitrose) across Devon which stock the homemade cider. It’s also available in many pubs across the county, so keep an eye out for it and give it a try.
