Morrish’s Fish Restaurant, Redruth
Morrish’s fish and chip shop in Redruth has been established for decades and is one of the South West’s leading fish and chip restaurants. With two large dining areas in the fish restaurant and plenty of free parking, it proves very popular with large groups. They have a fully licensed restaurant and a large takeaway service area to the front. You can even order online for your food to be ready when you collect! They don’t just do fish and chips, they have a large range of other delights on their menu, for all the family.
Beck’s Fish & Chips, St Ives
Beck’s Fish and Chips in St Ives, Cornwall, is as an established Cornish family business. Talking from experience, we know they’re really go, and do the best gravy!
The Coddy Shack, Looe
The Coddy Shack is whatever you want it to be, how can you define something completely unique! Whether it’s a quick stop on the way home from the beach or you’re there to enjoy a night of live music, they cater for everything, even dogs! They are the only fully licensed fish and chip take-away in the area with its own parking and a 60 cover restaurant. So if it’s small and intimate you’re looking for or somewhere to party everyone is welcome. They pride themselves on their good food, their quirky establishment and their warm and friendly service. They also run a ‘Man Vs Moby’ competition which involves eating 2lb’s of cod, 2lb’s of hand cut chunky chips and 1lb of mushy peas, in just 30 minutes!
Port & Starboard, St Columb
Port and Starboard are a father and son partnership. Owner and chief fryer Barney Manoli, has 30 years of fish frying experience and will only use the very best produce. Their restaurant can cater for large groups and coach parties, with ample car parking. The Port and Starboard is award winning and was recently considered as one of top 10 fish and chip restaurants in the UK. You can expect to find a warm and friendly team and delicious fish and chips, cooked fresh to order. You can also choose to take away, the perfect accompaniment to a day exploring Cornwall.
The Cod End, Newquay
Established in 2005 Roland and his team have created one the best fish and chip shops on the North Coast. Offering fresh local fish including the best Icelandic Cod and Haddock cooked with a secret family recipe handed down over the generations. They offer service with a smile and go that extra mile!
The Catch, Looe
The Catch is a traditional fish & chip takeaway with a difference. The ethos of the business is underpinned by high quality and sustainable purchasing, with all of the cod and haddock being purchased through the Marine Stewardship Council. Fish is also sourced directly from the fishing boats coming in and out of the harbour at Looe, and the potatoes are from Hoskins Farm in Downderry. A truly local Cornish business! All food is cooked to order and not held during busier periods, however busy they are! All of the fish batter is natural with no additives or preservatives, tartar sauce is homemade and last but by no means least, you can get gluten free fish & chips, not available anywhere else in Looe!
Stein’s Fish & Chips, Padstow
Stein’s Fish & Chips in Padstow boasts both a restaurant and takeaway, located on the beautiful North Cornwall coast overlooking the Camel Estuary. You’ll find a menu of cod and haddock together with a large range of local fish like hake, plaice, haddock and lemon sole which is often landed right on their doorstep in Padstow. Their fish is coated in their homemade batter and deep fried in beef dripping to make it really crisp, plus they serve their own mushy peas and curry sauce as well as their homemade mayonnaise-based tartare sauce.
Porthminster Beach Café, Porthminster
Nestled beneath the steep slopes of Porthminster Point, this beach café sits right on the beach, with unbeatable and uninterrupted views across St Ives Bay to Godrevy Lighthouse. It’s a multi-award winning seafood restaurant where the atmosphere is relaxed and friendly. The café specialises in Mediterranean and Asian seafood cuisine and is an oasis of taste and visual beauty. They’re open daily for Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. We particularly like the sound of their Porthminster Fish and Chips which is Fresh Hake Fillet with Sour Dough Batter and Rosemary & Garlic Chips, plus fresh lemon.
