Could #CockpitKaraoke be coming to our screens…

If you’re a nervous flier then look away now, because Air New Zealand has given James Corden’s Carpool Karaoke an aviation twist.

For those of you who don’t know what Carpool Karaoke is, the concept is simple; James Corden chauffeuring A-list celebrities (we’re talking Adele, Stevie Wonder, Justin Bieber and more recently, First Lady Michelle Obama) around Los Angeles while jamming to their favourite songs.

What began as a small feature slot on James Corden’s ‘The Late Late Show’, has now become one of the most popular television YouTube channels, with each Celebrity Carpool Karaoke averaging around 20-million views.

If you pardon the pun, the show could now reach new heights as Air New Zealand tries to get James Corden on board with a ‘Cockpit Karaoke’.

The less than one-minute video is a cleverly targeted public pitch to James, which begins ‘Hey James. It’s us. Your old pals from New Zealand’, before continuing to promote the airline and inviting him to do a #CockpitKaraoke. It ends simply by saying: ‘Let us know. Tweet. DM. Snapchat. Message in a bottle (Such a lost art)’.

The video is amongst a number of other invites from kiwi organisations, including the New Zealand Herald, after James made a comment that he found the country ‘a little boring’, but later backtracked after fans reacted rather negatively on Twitter.

You can watch the video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=03RdwZR3e2A

He had not yet replied to the invite as we went to post, which I think if you’re flying to or from New Zealand, you’re probably going to find reassuring!
