Outdoor activities, indoor play centres, and zoos are just a handful of things that will keep your children happy. But how are you meant to choose which to visit? We asked our social media followers for suggestions, and with their help we’ve created a list of the top 10 family attractions in Devon.
Everyone loves Crealy! This award-winning family attraction is close to the M5, and there are over 60 rides and attractions for everyone to enjoy. Head to the animal area and meet donkeys up close, or be brave and ride the Tidal Wave log flume!
Paignton Zoo, Paignton
Founded way back in 1923, this popular zoo not only allows visitors to meet some of the most wonderful creatures on Earth, it is a conservation and education charity. They host regular events throughout the year, including a Reptile Eggs-travaganza!
Pennywell Farm, Buckfastleigh
Home to the Pennywell Miniature Pigs, and filled with lovely animals for the kids to meet and learn more about, Pennywell is great for little ones who love animals! Daily activities include miniature pig cuddles, goat milking, and egg collecting.
The Milky Way, Bideford
There’s more than 110,000 sq ft of indoor fun for kids, as well as acres of space outdoors, giving them lots of room to let off some steam! Rides, slides, live shows, and sports are just a few of the available activities at this great family attraction.
All aboard the Pecorama train! This 9-acre site is an absolute dream for little ones who love trains. Take a ride on the Beer Heights Light Railway, discover the secret garden, and test your putting skills with a game of crazy golf.
The Big Sheep, Bideford
If you’re after a family attraction with plenty to do, then you’ll struggle to find somewhere better than The Big Sheep. With loads of attractions for both the Summer and Winter seasons, the kids will be kept entertained for hours on end.
Roadford Lake, near Okehampton
Want to get the kids outside in the fresh air? Roadford Lake is the perfect place to do just that. With over 730 acres of water and great walking and cycling routes, the whole family will enjoy their time here. You can even try your hand at windsurfing!
Dingles Fairground Heritage Centre, Lifton
This is the perfect place for both young and old! Discover the 45,000 sq ft space that houses the National Fairground Collection. Get Grandad and Granny on the dodgems with the kids, and make sure you take plenty of pictures!
Combe Martin Wildlife and Dinosaur Park, Ilfracombe
Take a walk on the wild side, and the prehistoric wild side! For over 27 years this centre has provided families with a great day out. Free shows, talks, and encounters can all be expected…you can even come face to face with a Triceratops.
Clip n Climb, Exeter
This is a great place for kids of different ages to enjoy some time together. With no experience necessary, kids (and parents) can climb right to the top and even try the Leap of Faith! Children must be at least 4 years old.
