Japanese Cookery, Philleigh Way, Truro, 10th January
Sushi and Japanese food has seen an explosion in popularity worldwide and with access to some of the best fish in the world, what better place to learn than Cornwall. On this new course full-day course, students will be taught how to make authentic sushi and traditional Japanese dishes by Japanese cookery teacher, Naoko Kashiwagi. Naoko will share her skills and experience, teaching students how prepare delicious sushi and other traditional Japanese dishes from scratch creating new and delicious flavour combinations and textures.
Delicious Dinner in the Castle, Pentillie Castle, St Mellion, 20th January
Enjoy a ‘Delicious’ Italian inspired dinner at the real Penrose Hotel… Join the team at Pentillie for a ‘Delicious’ four course dinner inspired by the Italian dishes Gina (Dawn French) cooks throughout the series. Family Fun Weekend, Eden Project, Par, 13th – 14th January
Lose yourself in a world of Cornish flora, fauna and folklore with Squashbox Theatre’s Skillywidden, at this family fun weekend in January. This fantastic performance celebrates the wildlife and faerie myths of Cornwall with crazy characters, silly slapstick, puppets, songs and storytelling. There will also be traditional Cornish music with a twist from The Countrymen. With a vast repertoire of folk rock and a cappella pieces, this lively lot will get the whole family’s toes tapping.

ABBA Forever, Hall for Cornwall, Truro, 16th January
A superb recreation of the world’s greatest pop band. Paranormal Conference Evening, Bodmin Jail, Bodmin, 26th January

Wedding Open Day, Launcells Barton, Bude, 28th January
Popular wedding venue Launcells Barton will be hosting an Open Day event on the 28th January 2018. By appointment only, guests will be given a private viewing of the venue and grounds, as well as being able to meet with a hand-picked selection of some of the finest local suppliers. Owner Lara Gill said ‘Our open days have always proven to be popular with brides from all over the country – it’s a great chance for them to get a real feel for the place, ask any questions they may have and also meet with some of the suppliers that will contribute to making their day all that they want it to be.’

Vivaldi by Candlelight, Hall for Cornwall, Truro, 15th January
Britain’s best-loved classical touring ensemble present a musical tribute to the great Venetian composer, Antonio Vivaldi. Attired in lavish period costume, performing in front of a stunning classical set, these charismatic musicians perform Vivaldi’s Four Seasons, a composition which depicts 17th century Italian rural life in a wonderfully inventive manner. Other works include the virtuoso Concerto for Two Violins, the Rustic Symphony and classics such as Pachelbel’s Canon and Handel’s Arrival of the Queen of Sheba. Step back for a while into the elegance and grace of the Baroque, whilst listening to harmonies of this great melodic genius weaving his magical spell.
